We created this map with the illusion of 3D by applying Digital Elevation Data and meticulously adding shaded relief to the landscape of the original 1956 Japan Geological map. The shading is printed on the paper and not a result of the map protruding from the surface.

Please Note: Text on the map can be difficult to read due to the small font size and the age of the map. In areas where the relief shading covers the text, the underlying text is not legible. We suggest the largest size map for better details though the text may still be covered in the darker areas.

Every map is custom printed. We have no inventory. Only when we receive your order do we produce your print on our 12-color giclée printer, using top-quality archival inks that will never fade.

We take pride in our prints and package them with the utmost care so your order arrives safely and in great condition. Of course, we can not account for everything that may occur during transit which can damage your order. But rest assured, if your order arrives in less than perfect condition, please email us at info@muir-way.com with pictures of the damage and we will replace it for you.

  • Framed Paper Prints: 3-4 weeks

      RETURN POLICY

      We stand by everything we print and will accept returns within 30 days of purchasing your Fine Art Paper print. There are NO restocking fees but return shipping costs are at the customer's expense. Returned prints must be in new condition and packaged as they were shipped. Any additional Shipping Insurance purchased in not refundable. Please email us at info@muir-way.comwith the order # to receive detailed instructions. Unauthorized returns may not be accepted and do not guarantee a refund.

      *Framed Prints and Canvas Gallery Wraps – We do not accept returns or exchanges on framed prints and canvas gallery wraps because they are custom made to order.  If your order arrives damaged or wrong, please email us at info@muir-way.com so we can correct it for you.

        Beautiful Japan 1956 Relief Map

        My ex-pat assignment led to our family living in Japan for 2+ years. It was an epic experience. Our demarcation of time is before, during, and after Japan. Our memories of the beautiful country and its people make us long to go back for a lingering visit. The Japan 1956 Relief Map was a gift for our younger son. He loves it and enjoyed recalling the regions and places he visited. He appreciates the well executed design, print quality, paper quality and suitability for framing. He looks forward to displaying and enjoying it in his next home. It is a gift he will treasure for his lifetime.
