A beloved hometown, a trail you've hiked for years, the lake where you spent every summer: your story becomes art, precision-carved into solid hardwood and hand-finished in our San Diego workshop.
Carved from real walnut
Each map is carved from genuine American walnut, so no two are alike. Natural variations in color, tone, grain, and knots make every piece unique. The terrain is the focus: the landscape is shaped from accurate elevation data, with no color or place names, just the pure form of the land.
Pricing and sizes
Custom wood-carved maps start at $300. The minimum area we can carve is 200 acres, and for custom large sizes you can email us at info@muir-way.com. For any map larger than 12 by 12 inches, a wooden frame can be added to keep the piece flat and display-ready.
How it works
- Select your options and check out.
- Email us at info@muir-way.com with your location and any details about the area.
- Within about 2 business days we send a mockup of your area. You can request revisions until it's right.
- Once you approve the mockup, we begin carving. Each map takes 20 to 50 hours of production.
- Your finished map ships free.
Lead time
Because each map is carved to order, allow about 2 to 5 weeks for production depending on size, complexity, and current volume, and roughly 3 to 6 weeks to arrive. Custom maps are non-returnable, but if yours arrives damaged or incorrect we'll make it right.
Golf courses
Custom wood-carved golf course maps are a popular choice, carved from the same walnut and typically turned around in about 3 to 5 weeks. A favorite course preserved as wall art.
