At Muir Way, we believe in providing the utmost quality, design, and value.
This map captures Jamaica in a landmark year. In January 1958, Jamaica became a founding member of the Federation of the West Indies, a milestone on the Caribbean's path toward self-governance. That same era, Jamaica had risen to become the world's leading bauxite producer, supplying nearly a quarter of the world's bauxite by 1957 and powering a fast-growing modern economy — a remarkable rise for an industry that had begun with its first shipment from Ocho Rios barely six years earlier, in 1952.
We georeferenced the original 1958 survey and applied modern digital elevation data, hand-shading the Blue Mountains and Jamaica's coastline into convincing three-dimensional relief. The dimension is created entirely through printed shading — it's flat to the touch, not raised or textured, so it frames beautifully like any fine art print.
A note on legibility: the original map's lettering is quite small, and text beneath the darkest shading can be hard to read. We recommend our largest size for the clearest detail.
