Virginia Hydrological Map

Virginia Hydrological Map

Water is literally the lifeblood of any state. If you’re drawn to water, you know that how and where it flows tells the story of a place. Our Virginia Hydrological Map shows in fascinating detail how the state’s rivers and streams flow and interconnect, merge and diverge, carrying life to the land. The flow of water also has an inherent aesthetic elegance that our map captures beautifully.

It’s all in the details. Our map depicts every river in the state—even intermittent streams—and every body of water with a diameter greater than .2 miles. For an extra aesthetic touch, we apply a method called the Strahler Stream Order to show the hierarchy of streams as they flow from their source—rivers are shown thicker as they acquire the flow of tributaries. We think it enhances a sense of the interconnectedness of our waterways.

In our Hydrology Series, you’ll not only find your favorite rivers and lakes, but you’ll also be able to trace their origins and outflow and appreciate the beauty of their connections.

We consider our maps to be works of art, so we print and frame them accordingly. We offer two choices of print surfaces: fine-art archival paper and stretched canvas.

Every map is custom printed. We have no inventory. Only when we receive your order do we produce your print on our 12-color giclée printer, using top-quality archival inks that will never fade.

Fine Art Paper (Does not include frame)-Our archival paper is museum-quality, 100% cotton, acid-free, and certified to last 100 years. This assures sharp details, true colors, and exceptional durability. Order your maps on archival paper if you intend to frame them.

Frame-Add a thin wood frame to your order and your Fine Art Paper print will come mounted.Click here to order

Canvas Gallery Wrap-If you prefer a frameless look, order your map on stretched canvas, which offers a bit more depth and texture. We use archival canvas, gallery-wrapped and varnished, stretched onto a 1.5-inch-thick wood frame.

Virginia Hydrological Map Review

I spoke directly to Jared on the phone and discussed sizing of the poster and printing. Jared was very polite and provided detailed explanations for all my questions. The poster arrived on time and in excellent condition. The quality of the paper was superb and the map looked professionally produced. I mounted the map into a custom-made frame for the poster and it fit perfectly. I am very satisfied with Muir Way and will order again!

great map

I gave the map to my husband as a Christmas gift and he really likes it a lot. He thinks it’s very cool. I bought it to hang at our farm house.

Thanks Muir Way!

I was extremely pleased with my recent purchase of the Virginia Hydrological Map. Everything from the quality of the map itself to the customer service before, during, and after my order arrived was noticeably better than any other purchase I've made that I can recall. Jared has been extremely helpful with not just this initial order I've gotten, but also information regarding a custom order I'd like to get from Muir Way in the future. The team at Muir Way produces a fantastic product at a surprisingly low cost, and I cannot recommend them enough. Thanks Muir Way!

Perfect Quality.

I ordered the 24"x30" Virginia Hydrological Map on paper. When I received it in a 3" tube, I didn't expect the rather thick and slightly textured high quality paper it was printed on, so that was a great surprise. The print ink is high detail and looks very accurate from what I see, and I can be a hard critic. The map took some time to relax back to flat, but with help of 4 heavy books and a table, it was no problem. There was a nice note from Jared and a few Muir Way stickers along with the order which was a great personal touch. Definitely would recommend. All I need now is some nice matting and protective glass to go with my eventual reclaimed barn wood frame I'm planning on making.
