Description
We reproduced this 1960 promotional poster that documents Olympic competition from Athens 1896 through the Rome and Squaw Valley Games in 1960. C.S. Hammond & Co. originally published this world map, which marks every Olympic host city from those first 64 years and shows how the Games moved across continents and cultures.
Detailed sports illustrations frame the map and depict Olympic events around the borders. Track and field athletes, swimmers, skiers, and figure skaters are rendered in period style. These illustrations complement the geographic information by showcasing the range of competition that defined the Olympic movement during its first six decades.
We remastered this piece from a high-resolution scan of the original vintage print and maintained the authentic mid-century color palette and detail work. Printed on archival-quality paper in San Diego, this reproduction preserves the historical accuracy and visual quality of the 1960 original.
