Michigan Hydrological Map

Michigan Hydrological Map

Water is literally the lifeblood of any state. If you’re drawn to water, you know that how and where it flows tells the story of a place. Our Michigan Hydrological Map shows in fascinating detail how the state’s rivers and streams flow and interconnect, merge and diverge, carrying life to the land. The flow of water also has an inherent aesthetic elegance that our map captures beautifully.

It’s all in the details. Our map depicts every river in the state—even intermittent streams—and every body of water with a diameter greater than .2 miles. For an extra aesthetic touch, we apply a method called the Strahler Stream Order to show the hierarchy of streams as they flow from their source—rivers are shown thicker as they acquire the flow of tributaries. We think it enhances a sense of the interconnectedness of our waterways.

In our Hydrology Series, you’ll not only find your favorite rivers and lakes, but you’ll also be able to trace their origins and outflow and appreciate the beauty of their connections.

We consider our maps to be works of art, so we print and frame them accordingly. We offer two choices of print surfaces: fine-art archival paper and stretched canvas.

Every map is custom printed. We have no inventory. Only when we receive your order do we produce your print on our 12-color giclée printer, using top-quality archival inks that will never fade.

Fine Art Paper (Does not include frame)-Our archival paper is museum-quality, 100% cotton, acid-free, and certified to last 100 years. This assures sharp details, true colors, and exceptional durability. Order your maps on archival paper if you intend to frame them.

Frame-Add a thin wood frame to your order and your Fine Art Paper print will come mounted.Click here to order

Canvas Gallery Wrap-If you prefer a frameless look, order your map on stretched canvas, which offers a bit more depth and texture. We use archival canvas, gallery-wrapped and varnished, stretched onto a 1.5-inch-thick wood frame.

    Fantastic Conversation Piece!

My husband is a hydrologist and and we've shopped Muir Way a few times over the last few years - both maps for our own home and to give as gifts! We purchased this map most recently for a friend graduating from a Water Resources program and it was the hit of the graduation party! Jared and the customer service team are incredibly responsive and helpful. I one hundred percent recommend this product to anyone - and I have on several occasions!

    Perfect gift for a Geographer

Ordered the Canvas option (because who wants to give a gift that requires the recipient to go out and buy something?). It looks fantastic and is just what she wanted!

    Perfect gift

I got one as a Christmas gift and another as a retirement gift. Both were for people who studied water and both of them loved the gift. Printed on high quality paper and the print is really clean and crisp.

    Fantastic Quality Prints

I bought a few of the hydrographical maps on a whim because I was in desperate need of a birthday gift for my wife. I decided to go with a green one of Hawaii; where we met and one of Virginia; where we currently live. They arrived within five days and I had them framed in a hurry. She cried when she saw them, I wish I could submit a picture of them in my living room with this review, because they look amazing. Could not be happier. Thank you guys.
