Originally published in the 1884 edition of the "The Fisheries and Fishery Industries of the United States", this reproduction print of the Hogfish, or Capitaine, was drawn by H.L. Todd. It was part of the first book in a multi-volume series produced by George Brown Goode, the famed ichthyologist (fish scientist), Smithsonian museum administrator, and U.S. Fish Commissioner. He managed a large staff of scientists, researchers, and clerical employees to produce this monumental work on American Fisheries.  We are happy to make available the amazingly detailed drawings included in the first volume of the series as reproduction prints.

Wow!

These printings are absolutely perfect.

The paper is thick but not too heavy with a fine matt „bütten" surface.

The printing itself is so filigree, it looks like an original ink drawing.

All in all the fish looks kind of 3 dimensional and staring at you.

Very very nice work!

NOW I understand

For anyone not completely sure what these are, the prints are pages from a book that came out in the year 1884. Cool to hang in a house!
