Originally published in the 1884 edition of the "The Fisheries and Fishery Industries of the United States", this reproduction print of the Common Sturgeon and Short-Nosed Sturgeon was drawn by H.L. Todd. It was part of the first book in a multi-volume series produced by George Brown Goode, the famed ichthyologist (fish scientist), Smithsonian museum administrator, and U.S. Fish Commissioner. He managed a large staff of scientists, researchers, and clerical employees to produce this monumental work on American Fisheries.  We are happy to make available the amazingly detailed drawings included in the first volume of the series as reproduction prints.

Edisto River sturgeon

After experiencing Atlantic sturgeon jumping in the river, I wanted a print to put in the river house. I really like this print! Perfect on the wall facing the river.

It is exactly what I expected.

This circa 1844 print is beautiful. I am soon to have it mounted and framed AND I'm looking forward to hanging in my home office. Yes, the page itself it slightly yellowed...makes me love all the more. It's an American Sturgeon, a fish that is just...just coming back as viable. It's a proud fist!

Compliments my Sturgeon Exhibit!

This print came quickly and looks great matted and framed next to an actual skin of an Atlantic (Common) Sturgeon in my nature center.
