At Muir Way, we believe in providing the utmost quality, design, and value.
This map is based on a 1958 USGS topographic survey centered on Yakima, Washington, in the heart of a valley whose irrigated farmland has made it one of the country's most productive agricultural regions — known for its apple orchards, its vineyards (the Yakima Valley became Washington's first officially recognized wine-growing region), and its hop yards, which today supply a large share of the hops grown in the United States. The sheet extends well beyond the valley floor to take in Mount Rainier National Park, Mount Adams, and Snoqualmie National Forest — the same volcanic peaks and forested slopes that frame the valley's orchards and vineyards on a clear day.
We georeferenced the original 1958 survey and added true shaded relief using modern digital elevation data, so the Cascade foothills, Mount Adams, and the folds of the Yakima Valley read with real topographic depth. The shading is printed flat on fine art paper — not raised or textured — so it frames and hangs like any print in our collection.
A note on legibility: this map keeps its original 1958 lettering, so some labels are small, and text beneath the darkest relief shading can be difficult to read. Our largest available size offers the clearest detail.
