Looking for a gift that's actually memorable? Our vintage maps turn a place someone loves — the state they grew up in, the city where they got married, the mountains they can't stop talking about — into a piece of art worth hanging. Every piece starts as a real historical survey, some dating back over a century. From there, you've got two ways to bring it to life: our Vintage Shaded Relief prints render the terrain in rich 2D shading and color, a classic framed-map look; our 3D Vintage Raised Relief maps go further, sculpting that same terrain into raised, tactile topography you can see and feel off the wall. Choose from hundreds of vintage maps spanning U.S. states, national parks, and cities around the world, then pick the style — and frame finish — that matches their space.

Muir Way sells two distinct product lines built from vintage historical map surveys, ranging from 19th-century originals to mid-20th-century editions, covering U.S. states, national parks, major cities, and international locations. The Vintage Shaded Relief Maps collection (326 products) reproduces these surveys as flat, two-dimensional prints using shaded relief techniques to render elevation and terrain through color and shading alone. The 3D Vintage Raised Relief Maps collection (63 products) uses the same historical source surveys but adds a physical manufacturing step: each map is scanned, digitally georeferenced, and vacuum-formed into a three-dimensional sculpted terrain surface before mounting, producing a raised, tactile wall piece rather than a flat print. Both lines are handcrafted in the USA. Frame options vary by product and typically include no frame, black, or walnut.
