We created this map with the illusion of 3D by applying Digital Elevation Data and meticulously adding shaded relief to the landscape of the original 1982 Michigan, Lower Peninsula Geological map. The shading is printed on the paper and not a result of the map protruding from the surface.
Please Note: Text on the map can be difficult to read due to the small font size and the age of the map. In areas where the relief shading covers the text, the underlying text is not legible. We suggest the largest size map for better details though the text may still be covered in the darker areas.

My husband lived in Michigan for his first 20 years and he still loves it. This map was my gift to him for his 61st birthday. I had it framed locally with museum glare-free glass. The gift was absolutely perfect. Rare is this man reduced to speechlessness. But he opened this and sat with it in his lap for about 25 minutes just looking at it, no words at all. This map has gorgeous colors, amazing detail, and is printed on thick art paper. Having seen it, I would have paid twice the amount for it.
