At Muir Way, we believe in providing the utmost quality, design, and value.
1921 was a landmark year for Mexico: the nation marked the centennial of its independence from Spain with a yearlong celebration, even as President Álvaro Obregón used the occasion to launch a new era of reform. His government opened some 1,000 rural schools in a single year under the new Ministry of Public Education, and commissioned muralists — including a young Diego Rivera — to paint Mexico's history across public buildings, sparking the mural renaissance that would come to define Mexican art for the rest of the century. This geological map captures the country's topography at that pivotal moment of cultural rebirth.
We georeferenced the original 1921 survey and added shaded relief using modern digital elevation data, giving Mexico's mountains, plateaus, and coastlines a vivid sense of depth. It's printed flat on fine art paper — the 3D effect comes entirely from the shading, not any raised surface — so it frames just like any fine art print.
Please note: text on this map can be difficult to read due to its small original font size and age. In areas where the relief shading covers the text, the underlying lettering is not legible — we recommend the largest available size for the best detail, though some text may still be covered in darker areas.
