Cisco of Lake Michigan (Moon-Eye)

195 Reviews

Originally published in the 1884 edition of the "The Fisheries and Fishery Industries of the United States", this reproduction print of the Cisco of Lake Michigan, or Moon-Eye, was drawn by H.L. Todd. It was part of the first book in a multi-volume series produced by George Brown Goode, the famed ichthyologist (fish scientist), Smithsonian museum administrator, and U.S. Fish Commissioner. He managed a large staff of scientists, researchers, and clerical employees to produce this monumental work on American Fisheries.  We are happy to make available the amazingly detailed drawings included in the first volume of the series as reproduction prints.

Far exceeded my expectations for the price paid. Once I clear some wall space I am thinking of adding all of the species that I've caught fishing off of Hatteras. Very, very well done. You will not be disappointed.

A Gift for Dad

Recently, I purchased this drawing of a Crappie for my dad. My dad is a fisherman. Crappie are his aim. I cannot tell you how many early and terribly cold mornings he has set out with high hopes of catching his limit. Some days he has done so. Other mornings, not a nibble. In either case, he has always experienced the simple pleasures and joy of creation, as the sun gave off its warmth and the waters of Kentucky its mist and peaceful allure. While this gift is merely a picture, it represents so much more. For him, it is a reminder of a pastime that has given him much; moments for reflection, occasions of adrenaline and sport, and quality time spent with family and friends. Thanks for a great product and for the joy of its reception!
