Description

Originally published in the 1884 edition of the "The Fisheries and Fishery Industries of the United States", this reproduction print of the Crappie, or Sac-a-lait, was drawn by H.L. Todd. It was part of the first book in a multi-volume series produced by George Brown Goode, the famed ichthyologist (fish scientist), Smithsonian museum administrator, and U.S. Fish Commissioner. He managed a large staff of scientists, researchers, and clerical employees to produce this monumental work on American Fisheries.  We are happy to make available the amazingly detailed drawings included in the first volume of the series as reproduction prints.

Beautiful Print

The quality of the print is absolutely first rate. It was shipped fast, packed well, and the detail is just amazing. I have nothing but good things to say about the print and Muir Way and have been telling my friends about them every chance I get.

A Gift for Dad

Recently, I purchased this drawing of a Crappie for my dad. My dad is a fisherman. Crappie are his aim. I cannot tell you how many early and terribly cold mornings he has set out with high hopes of catching his limit. Some days he has done so. Other mornings, not a nibble. In either case, he has always experienced the simple pleasures and joy of creation, as the sun gave off its warmth and the waters of Kentucky its mist and peaceful allure. While this gift is merely a picture, it represents so much more. For him, it is a reminder of a pastime that has given him much; moments for reflection, occasions of adrenaline and sport, and quality time spent with family and friends. Thanks for a great product and for the joy of its reception!

Great Gift

I got my dad the Sac au Lait (Crappie) print and he loved it. Being a Cajun from south Louisiana, he was especially tickled that they included the French spelling also. It’s now the first thing you see when you walk into his house.
