United States of America Hydrological Map

Water is literally the lifeblood of any country. If you’re drawn to water, you know that how and where it flows tells the story of a place. Our USA Hydrological Map shows in fascinating detail how the country’s rivers and streams flow and interconnect, merge and diverge, carrying life to the land. The flow of water also has an inherent aesthetic elegance that our map captures beautifully.

It’s all in the details. Our map depicts every river in the country—even intermittent streams—and every body of water with a diameter greater than 6 miles. For an extra aesthetic touch, we apply a method called the Strahler Stream Order to show the hierarchy of streams as they flow from their source—rivers are shown thicker as they acquire the flow of tributaries. We think it enhances a sense of the interconnectedness of our waterways.

In our Hydrology Series, you’ll not only find your favorite rivers and lakes, but you’ll also be able to trace their origins and outflow and appreciate the beauty of their connections.

The Black and Blue colors are 2nd Edition prints.
The Green color is 1st Edition prints.

  • Made in the USA

We consider our maps to be works of art, so we print and frame them accordingly. We offer two choices of print surfaces: fine-art archival paper and stretched canvas.

Every map is custom printed. We have no inventory. Only when we receive your order do we produce your print on our 12-color giclée printer, using top-quality archival inks that will never fade.

Fine Art Paper (Does not include frame)-Our archival paper is museum-quality, 100% cotton, acid-free, and certified to last 100 years. This assures sharp details, true colors, and exceptional durability. Order your maps on archival paper if you intend to frame them.

Frame-Add a thin wood frame to your order and your Fine Art Paper print will come mounted.Click here to order

Canvas Gallery Wrap-If you prefer a frameless look, order your map on stretched canvas, which offers a bit more depth and texture. We use archival canvas, gallery-wrapped and varnished, stretched onto a 1.5-inch-thick wood frame.

    Spectacular map!

When the map arrived as a gift for our 15 year old son everyone wanted the same one. It is the only item he asked for his birthday and it really is a masterpiece. He had to move it to a second spot so that everyone passing by his room can see it from the open door, as he was tired of all of us wandering in to get a good close look at it.

    High Quality

The print I ordered was quickly shipped. I’m really impressed by the car Muir Way took to carefully package it. The quality is outstanding! Now I just need to find a frame that’s good enough to match it...

    Stunning

One of my primary lessons for the fifth grade this year is to teach them North American geography. I love this map because it can be seen as “the big picture”, where water flows beautifully across the country OR single rivers can be traced up to their tributaries. Aesthetically they are striking and, even though it would be a moot point, I’d love one in all three colors!! Thank you!
