South Dakota Hydrological Map

South Dakota Hydrological Map

Water is literally the lifeblood of any state. If you’re drawn to water, you know that how and where it flows tells the story of a place. Our South Dakota Hydrological Map shows in fascinating detail how the state’s rivers and streams flow and interconnect, merge and diverge, carrying life to the land. The flow of water also has an inherent aesthetic elegance that our map captures beautifully.

It’s all in the details. Our map depicts every river in the state—even intermittent streams—and every body of water with a diameter greater than .2 miles. For an extra aesthetic touch, we apply a method called the Strahler Stream Order to show the hierarchy of streams as they flow from their source—rivers are shown thicker as they acquire the flow of tributaries. We think it enhances a sense of the interconnectedness of our waterways.

In our Hydrology Series, you’ll not only find your favorite rivers and lakes, but you’ll also be able to trace their origins and outflow and appreciate the beauty of their connections.

We consider our maps to be works of art, so we print and frame them accordingly. We offer two choices of print surfaces: fine-art archival paper and stretched canvas.

Every map is custom printed. We have no inventory. Only when we receive your order do we produce your print on our 12-color giclée printer, using top-quality archival inks that will never fade.

Fine Art Paper (Does not include frame)-Our archival paper is museum-quality, 100% cotton, acid-free, and certified to last 100 years. This assures sharp details, true colors, and exceptional durability. Order your maps on archival paper if you intend to frame them.

Frame-Add a thin wood frame to your order and your Fine Art Paper print will come mounted.Click here to order

Canvas Gallery Wrap-If you prefer a frameless look, order your map on stretched canvas, which offers a bit more depth and texture. We use archival canvas, gallery-wrapped and varnished, stretched onto a 1.5-inch-thick wood frame.

Perfect gift

Whenever we go on a road trip, my husband delights in researching the rivers and lakes we cross over. He’s often said “I wish I had a map of the waterways in North Carolina.” When he opened that exact map as a Valentine’s Day gift, his delight was infectious. He’s been sitting at our table for the past hour, tracing riverways and looking up information. The map itself is beautiful, with fine attention to detail. Thanks for making a perfect gift possible.

Gorgeous Map

I'm a huge hydrology nerd, so I was stoked to find this map. My local REI has a USA version of this map hanging in their entry as well. It arrived rolled up in great condition with lovely packaging. It also flattened out nicely after a few days under magazines. Highly recommend!

High Quality

I purchased the Tennessee Hydrological Map as a birthday gift for my son. I didn't choose to have it framed. I did unroll it and the paper is of the highest quality. I look forward to framing it and giving it to my son for his birthday.
