NEW Reclaimed Wood Frames available!

Yes, we finally have our amazing new frames made for us by the craftsmen at Urban Ashes.  Each frame is hand-crafted and hand-finished in the Detroit Metro Area, Michigan.  They are made from Fir wood salvaged from beams deconstructed out of The Clinton Woolen Mill, Clinton Michigan, saving them from the landfill. The mill was founded in 1866 and was quickly rebuilt after being destroyed by fire in 1886.  It served as a major supplier of wool to the automotive industry and the principal employer in Clinton.  It closed in 1957 due to a switch in the automotive industry using more synthetic fabrics.  Since then it was occupied by many different businesses until it once again was destroyed by fire.  Much of the structural wood was saved and is now being repurposed by Urban Ashes to make frames and furniture instead of heading to the landfill.

Our frames have a smooth face and rough cut sides with a natural oil finish.  Thick and robust, these frames compliment our maps perfectly with their rustic look.  Each one is a little different, some have nail holes on the front, others with wood knots, and some have a cleaner face,  but all have the rugged rough cut sides and are beautiful pieces of Americana.

We are offering them with our paper prints for $149.  The prints will come framed behind Acrylite (a glass substitute) and be held into place by acid-free backing board.  We will also make them available on their own if you would like them for another piece of artwork in 13x19 inch and 16x20 inch sizes.
